Obradovtsi Monastery of St Mina
Obradovtsi Monastery of St Mina is located in Sofia’s surroundings and is easily accessible via an asphalt road about 2 km north-east of the village of Obradovtsi (Benkovski quarter, Sofia).
The idea to build it came up originally in 1927; its construction took place only as late as 1942–1945, though. In post-1989 years the monastery gained great popularity, mostly because of the miracle-working icon of St Mina.
This entailed large scale construction development. An entire compound of buildings and chapels has emerged, including the new domed church, dedicated to St Nicholas painted with magnificent Byzantine-style frescos.
