At the beginning of May, the Program for planned cleaning of riverbeds passing through the urbanized territory of Sofia was launched. It includes a total of 278 river sections with a total length of 129,760 m. The value of the cleaning activities provided for in the Program amounts to BGN 2,889,206.

Sofia municipality has provided funding in the amount of BGN 2,000,000, for the remaining BGN 889,206, additional funding is expected from the Interdepartmental Commission for Recovery and Assistance under the Council of Ministers.

Cleaning of river beds is an annual preventive activity to prevent emergency situations or flooding of adjacent terrains and engineering infrastructure. The activities we carry out are the removal of self-grown bushy vegetation, fallen or dried trees that are in danger of falling into the river bed, seizure and removal of mixed, household, construction, large- and small-sized waste, car tires, etc.

The program is expected to end at the end of November.
